THE STEVE REID FOUNDATION
While commemorating the life and legacy of Steve Reid, the Steve Reid Foundation aims to help people working in music who are in crisis, especially those suffering from illness. Through the years we have given support to several musicians including Arthur Blythe, Phil Ranelin, Phil Cohran, Jon Hassel and Dr Bob Jones.
We also support emerging new talent through education and information initiatives. Through the Steve Reid InNOVAtion Award, a partenership scheme with PRS Foundation, we have awarded bursaries and provided mentorship to oustanding talent such as Moses Boyd, Nubya Garcia, Hector Plimmer, Femi Koleoso and Sarathy Korwar early in their careers.
The Foundation also provides grants to other non-profit organisations that help people working in music. Charities that we are currently working closely with include Help Musicians and the Jazz Foundation of America. We want to see a world where people working in music, especially those who have devoted their lives to it, are able to get the help they need when they need it most.
